Approximately 2,700 households and businesses in Cromer and Sheringham can now benefit from Gigabit broadband rollout 

Broadband provider LightSpeed is bolstering connections with Gigabit-capable broadband speeds of up to 2Gbps

  • Approximately 2,700 homes and businesses in Cromer and Sheringham can now benefit from ultrafast broadband speeds as LightSpeed launches in the area 

  • The move sees the alternative network aim to increase the availability of Gigabit broadband to residents, which currently sits at just 5.75% in the Norfolk town 

  • Even more homes and businesses in Cromer and Sheringham will be able to benefit from speeds of up to 2Gbps from the provider, with approximately 9,500 premises in total to have LightSpeed’s network available to them by the end of March  

  • LightSpeed’s offerings can facilitate streaming, gaming and video calls simultaneously with minimal buffering   

Approximately 2,700 more homes and businesses in Cromer and Sheringham, can now benefit from Gigabit broadband speeds thanks to broadband provider LightSpeed, in an effort to increase internet connection quality in the county's suburban areas. 

LightSpeed’s upgrades will offer speeds of up to 2Gbps (2,000Mbps) ensuring residents can enjoy broadband speeds that meet their online needs. According to BroadbandExposed, just 5.75% of premises in the area have Gigabit-capable broadband available, meaning LightSpeed’s arrival will allow residents to benefit from the lightning-fast broadband speeds with minimal interruptions. 

Bypassing traditional copper wires that deliver broadband which can be slow and unreliable, LightSpeed is providing FTTP (Fibre to the Premises) broadband which uses fiber optic cables to deliver a broadband connection directly to a home or business. With the provider utilising the latest telecoms technology, customers in the area will be futureproofed with a connection that keeps up with the changing ways we use the internet. 

With 2,700 premises currently live following LightSpeed’s launch, the provider will serve a total of 9,500 by the end of March.

Cromer and Sheringham join fellow Norfolk towns Hunstanton, Fakenham, Kings Lynn, Dereham, Downham Market and Thetford on the LightSpeed network to bolster Gigabit broadband coverage in the region’s underserved towns. 

With prices starting from £25.99, customers can choose from various packages that best suit their internet usage. 

Alongside broadband offerings, LightSpeed also offers home security products to help residents increase the safety of their properties for peace of mind with partner SimpliSafe. Additionally, residents can upgrade landline phones to the provider’s Digital Voice product ahead of the landline switch-off set for early 2027.
