improving internet speed, bandwidth and overall connectivity for residents to rival urban areas

The first customer is now live on award-winning broadband provider LightSpeed’s 2Gb-capable broadband network in Blythe Bridge, Staffordshire.

Not only has resident Becky, 41 and her family been able to boost their internet performance considerably and save money with the new package from LightSpeed, but Becky was also gifted an iPad and a bottle of champagne by the broadband provider to welcome her to the ultrafast network.

Becky chose to change to LightSpeed for her family, back in November, due to its competitive pricing and impressive speeds, which are far faster than she could access beforehand. This meant LightSpeed had to work quickly to get set up in the area to provide Becky with this unrivalled service which would benefit her family.

Becky commented: “In our household, we’re streaming and gaming 24/7. With so many devices on the go, impressive speeds and bandwidth are a must, so it’s really important to me that we have a good, reliable connection to keep everyone happy. A friendly customer service team is equally important to be on hand if any issues do arise – I’m over the moon to have found both in LightSpeed.”

LightSpeed is excited to bring its services to Blythe Bridge, introducing up to 2 Gigabit (2,000Mbps) full fibre broadband to the community. With LightSpeed, residents can enjoy reliable connections in the provider’s move to futureproof the technology for future generations, helping to close the digital divide. Starting in January, the company plans to connect approximately 4,500 local homes and businesses.

LightSpeed is also offering home security packages, via LightSpeed’s partner SimpliSafe, and Digital Voice (VoIP) to get ahead of the copper landline switch-off scheduled for 2027.

Brett Shepherd, CEO at LightSpeed, commented: “We’re thrilled to have Becky on board as the first customer officially connected to our full fibre network in Blythe Bridge.

“We’re proud to deliver ultrafast, reliable Gigabit-capable internet speeds to suburban areas that need it the most. Lagging issues can be a real cause of frustration – our aim is to make that a thing of the past for small towns and villages that typically aren’t prioritised by larger providers.

“Whether you’re a gamer needing quick reactions from your internet, a home worker taking video calls or the head of a busy household with multiple devices, we’re committed to providing everyone with the high-quality internet connection they deserve, as well as launching new services that will benefit homeowners.”
