Networking

We act as independent advisors in this field and can provide you with almost any level of connection ranging from a simple e-mail "presence" (no computer or phone line required) through to leased line and beyond.

As a start-up solution we normally suggest a dial-up Internet account coupled with e-mail forwarding. With this solution you will have a published e-mail address such as sales@yourname.co.uk which is accessed via an alternative e-mail account (yourname@enablis.co.uk for instance). This address is independent of the Internet service provider and will remain unchanged throughout your Internet development.
We can set the forwarding up so that "all_addresses@yourname.co.uk" forward to the one dial-up account. You will, however, need software at your end to separate them into folders (a copy of Eudora Pro for instance).

For heavier usage requirements, connection of an entire LAN to the net with individual e-mail for instance, we normally suggest one of two approaches, a software solution and a hardware solution.
The software solution uses a program such as Wingate to allow all the users on your LAN to connect via the one modem connected to a PC. This has certain disadvantages. For instance the PC has to be on most of the time, bandwidth is limited and the user of the gateway PC will notice a degradation in performance.
The alternative, hardware solution we have used successfully many times and would be our recommendation, especially if you are considering video conferencing, and so on in the future. This involves an ISDN line and an ISDN access Port. The Port is standalone and generally speaking is very fast.

If you find that your ISDN line is in use more than four to six hours a day then a leased line might be more appropriate. Prices for this type of access change constantly. If you would like some more definite pricing please contact us and we will provide you with a quote. Generally speaking, it’s cheaper than you think.
